New Horizons Scholarship

Applications open October 1, 2024 and close November 30, 2024.

Award Amount: $2,000

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Students must have completed at least one full semester at Texas State University to be eligible.

  • The applicant must be enrolled in 12 hours or more at the time of selection and considered a full-time student.

  • Students must have an overall Texas State GPA of at least 3.0.

  • The recipient(s) will be in good standing with the University during selection.

  • Students must complete the entire application process by the due date.

  • As part of the application process, we require a 250–500-word essay of why studying abroad is important to the student and which program they are interested in. Explain the study abroad program you are interested in, why you are interested, and how this scholarship would be used towards it.

Attach resume and essay using the buttons below. Please name the documents “firstlastname_resume”, and “firstlastname_essay”.

The Scholarship will be awarded by the end of the fall semester. The recipient is asked to attend the Stelos Alliance Scholarship Awards Banquet in the Spring if possible. The time and place are to be determined by Stelos Alliance but will be in San Marcos, TX.

HISTORY OF THE SCHOLARSHIP

Lauren Darby is a Texas State University graduate, Housley Principled Leadership Program graduate, and sits on the Stelos Alliance Board. Lauren attributes many personal and professional successes to her time at Texas State, and the opportunities provided that allowed her to expand her learning outside of the classroom. Through this scholarship, she aims to help provide an opportunity to a fellow Bobcat to study abroad as she was able to through support while attending Texas State University.

The New Horizons Scholarship, worth $2,000, will be awarded for the first time in Fall 2024. It will be awarded annually and funded by Lauren Darby and designated donations to the Stelos Alliance.
