Why I support Stelos

Stelos is near and dear to my heart. The organization combines my professional passions of striving to be a next level leader and practicing impactful mentorship to the next generation of leaders. By focusing the benefits on Texas State University, Stelos is elevating the status of the university as an academic institution that produces students equipped to be powerful leaders. As an institution focused on offering an educational experience to many first generation college students, myself included, Stelos scholarships turn dreams into realities.  On a personal note, I love how the Stelos recognizes and honors our friend Kevin through the Housley Principled Leadership Program.

My greatest accomplishment to date

My son, Trevor, is my greatest personal achievement. He continues to amaze me as a young professional and husband. He was married to his college sweetheart, Kara, last April. The two met at Texas State University while pursuing their bachelors’ degrees. Since then, Trevor and I went on to earn our masters degrees together. Throughout his life, we forged our mother/son relationship by attending sporting events, including Superbowls, Final Fours, College World Series and National Championships. Our favorite vacation site is Nassau, Bahamas.

More about me

My eyes still water every time I see Old Main. My time at SWTSU was filled with activities surrounding Chi Omega, Tau Kappa Epsilon, Strutters, Order of Omega, Panhellenic, Student Foundation, Orientation Assistant, intramural sports, the river…and the occasional class. These social skills and leadership opportunities gave me the confidence to network and lead in my professional life. I was a reporter/anchor for a few years before identifying my passion in non-profit work. Among my fondest professionals memories are the ringing of the closing bell at the NYSE and placing a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in celebration of BBB’s centennial in 2013.

Ask me about…

Books, movies, sports, travel, my family and pets.  As a former television reporter, I welcome discussions about news, current events, even politics. I love to share my experiences of watching Austin grow as a native Austinite and sharing my exploits of living in the “country” now in Spicewood…snakes, spiders, fox, deer, hawks.
