Bobcat Bucket List #57: Attend the MLK Celebration + March

Each Martin Luther King Jr. day in San Marcos, people gather for a wreath-laying ceremony followed by a march to the Hays County Courthouse.

The wreath-laying ceremony takes place at the LBJ MLK Crossroads Memorial, which is located at the crossroads of MLK Drive and LBJ Drive. Both President LBJ and MLK paved the way for civil rights legislation, and this is the only American intersection that bears both of these leaders names. This crossroads is also home to the Diversity Mural, which celebrates all the different cultures that make up the San Marcos community.

The 2025 Celebration takes place Monday January 20th at 9:30am. If you have kids, there is one day of MLK themed children's events on January 18th. You can learn more about it here.
